A very famous and fairly popular presidential candidate has been revealed to have used his position of power to take advantage of dozens of women, with and without the knowledge of his wife. Even the Deseret News has felt the need to address the issue.

When a presidential candidate takes advantage of women and acts as if it is his God-given right to do so, it is our job as responsible human beings to speak up and say something. Even people that normally would agree with this popular presidential candidate are speaking up against what he has done and the message it sends our wives and daughters.

It is shocking that presidential candidate Joseph Smith would use his revered and powerful office of prophet to solicit affairs outside of his marriage with his wife Emma. Whether the women are already married like Patty Sessions or were his own foster daughters like the Lawrence sisters, Joseph used his mantle of “prophet” to take advantage of all too many women.

Even though we might normally side with the party of the Church, we hope that Mormons will break from the norm and disavow the presidential candidacy of Joseph Smith.
